It's too bad, I think, that the media is putting his trip in the context of a challenge to Islam when he's really there to reach out to the Orthodox community and their patriarch, Bartholomew.
Popes teach and promote the Faith, in season or out. And history shows that the Faith is mostly out of season. Oh well. If Benedict is killed, he won't be the first Pope to be martyred in Constantinople.
