While I had my doubts about this project, its executive producer, Dale Ahlquist, was always filled with faith in it. Dale abandons himself to Divine Providence in a way that makes cynics like me wonder. And in this case, once again something that has no reason to be happening – a movie made by a first time screenwriter and director, on a shoestring budget, on a very tight schedule – actually shows promise, at least on set. There is something wonderful and hopeful about making a movie, something that draws from us great acts of trust –Read more by clicking here.

A Chestertonian Lenten Prayer Request
From Dale Ahlquist:
A blessed Lent to all my Chestertonian friends,
Since you will be cranking up your prayers into a higher gear during the next 40 days, I have a special intention that I would like you please to add to the list.
Next week, we begin filming “Manalive”, the first ever movie adaptation of a Chesterton novel. This has the potential of doing a great deal of good, bringing attention to the writings and ideas of GKC to an entirely new audience, and possibly the widest audience we have ever been able to reach. We want to honor God with this work, and we ask that you pray that our efforts will be blessed. Pray that the cast and crew will be protected as they work together to bring this novel to the screen.
For more information about the film, click here.
And spread the word!

Apostle of Common Sense Season Four
Things I wanna know:
But I want more. When I'm done with an episode, I just sit there, wanting more. I hear season Five is even better than Four....
1. Where are the DVD extras?Yeah, yeah, the Chesterton is worth the price, and yes, Dale does a great job--but only because he has a cast of helpers like Chuck Chalberg, Kevin O'Brien, and Julian, Ashley, Catherine (LOVE those dimples!) and etc.
2. Is Dale wearing lipstick?
3. Where are the bloopers, outtakes and deleted scenes?
4. Where are the interviews with the stars?
5. Where is the behind the scenes "How We Made the ACS" stuff?
6. Does Dale use a teleprompter?
7. Why the risque bedroom scene with Chuck?
But I want more. When I'm done with an episode, I just sit there, wanting more. I hear season Five is even better than Four....

Chesterton in Sight and Sound
H/T: Bob C.
This YouTube video contains more audio than I've heard before. The part that was new to me was the Canadian Literary Luncheon for Rudyard Kipling. I'd read that before, but never heard it.
Highlight: Hearing Chesterton laughing at his own humorous jokes–always a pleasure.

Ahlquist and GKC go to IHOP
I just returned from EWTN where Chuck Chalberg taped his segments as G.K. Chesterton for the 5th season of “The Apostle of Common Sense”, which will be aired next fall. I was down there in August, taping my segments along with the dramatic vignettes (featuring, among others, the infamous Stanford Nutting, played by Kevin O’Brien). We also taped an entire Fr. Brown story, “The Honour of Israel Gow” which will be included in Kevin’s upcoming “Theatre of the Word” series for EWTN. “Israel Gow” will have its premiere at the Chesterton conference in Seattle in August. It’s going to be really good! I saw a first edit while I was at EWTN this week, and I was very impressed with the high quality of the production. Thanks for the update, Dale, sounds like a fun time.
Chuck and I arrived late in the day and started taping right away in the evening. At the end of the shoot, we needed to be fed, and the only place open was the local International House of Pancakes. There was no time for Chuck to change out of costume, so GK Chesterton went with me to the IHOP. The amazing thing is, no one noticed. In fact, he wasn’t even the most interesting looking person there!
Now we all have an extra reason to get ourselves to Seattle in August: to see the debut of The Honour of Israel Gow.

Dale the Dignitary
This article refers to Mr. Ahlquist as a "dignitary". And also mentions something I wanted to let you all know: that the American Chesterton Society is currently recording its fifth season of the Apostle of Common Sense at EWTN studios.
Dignitaries attending the banquet included...Dale Ahlquist, president of the American Chesterton Society and star of EWTN's television show on G. K. Chesterton, now filming its fifth season.

Actual Video of Chesterton at Worchester College
First time I've *seen* this. I've heard the audio before, but didn't realize the audio was taken off a movie camera. Very, very cool.
