Happy Birthday GKC!
He would be 135 today. May his works be read and understood; that indeed would be a good birthday gift.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Chesterton!

P.S. Great job on the blog-I found it through Chesterton Academy. It looks wonderful!
Perhaps the announcement of a new book series on Chesterton for Children will go a long way to making that birthday wish become more of a reality!

Happy Birthday, our dear Gilbert!
ReplyDeleteIn honor of GKC's birthday, I made time today to read about half of Tremendous Trifles. Some of the young men I transport were surprised to see the book in my pocket, and when they finally saw the cover, they said: "Hey, that's the same guy you have on that little pin you always wear." I acknowledged that was a fact. I've not had one of them ask to read something by Chesterton yet....but I feel confident that someone will....eventually.
ReplyDeleteChesterton was saying a special prayer for me today. My healthy and beautiful daughter was born today. It's funny because for months I've been saying that she would be born on Chesterton's Birthday and my wife and I were married on June 14th, the day he died.
ReplyDeleteDavyMax: Oh my gosh! A Chesterton BABY! Congratulations. Maybe her name should include Frances? Gilberta?
ReplyDeleteHappy Newborn!!!!
davymax3: Congratulations! :-)
ReplyDeleteyea, I was thinking about it, but no can do with the wife. Gilberta she doesn't like, and Frances is taken already by a cousin... Her name is Lucia. Keep her in your prayers. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, davymax and family! What wonderful news. Lucia is a beautiful name. Several years ago, I had a KEITHA in one of my classes. Would your wife like that? And by the way, what was Frances' middle name?
ReplyDeleteFrances' middle name was Alice. Frances Alice Blogg Chesterton.
ReplyDeleteOoo! I have a fabulous idea! Could you please, in honor of GKC's 135th, find a way to make the theme song from the Apostle of Common Sense into a ringtone?!
ReplyDeleteChestertonians would instantly recognize eachother in a crowd if someone's phone rang with that! ;)
Nice to know I have such a distinguished fellow Gemini. Astrology is an ancient art, not to be confused with the crap fraudulently used today. After all, the wise men followed a star.
