Debate: Chesterton vs. Obama

Here they debate economics. Quite interesting!

  1. "Belloc and Chesterton were both conservative capitalists."

They were neither conservatives nor capitalists.

  2. I'm not quite sure I understand the function of an anti-trust law. I know it is supposed to break up a bit business, but how does it do so? It seems to me like any such law would be another form of bureaucracy. And isn't part of owning one's own business the ability to make it as large as one is able?

  3. Dave:

They were not "Conservatives", nor were they proponents of unchecked Capitalism. But I think it is accurate to say that they were "conservative capitalists". They were proponents of a conservative (traditional) approach to capital (land and means of production).
