A Chestertonian researcher has asked a favour, and I am unable to help, so I appeal to you, o Chestertonians for assistance. Here is the matter to be considered:
Needed: the text of a German poem, celebrating the eight beatitudes, a poem displayed about thirty years ago on a wall of the sanctuary of the Beatitudes near the Lake of Genesaret. Perhaps a Franciscan connection may help. This is not the kind of thing that is in AMBER. Note: it is not BY Chesterton; we are simply assisting a Chestertonian.
Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Nick from combox to be commended for finding it! This is the one. Thanks everyone for the great sleuthing!
I apologize in advance if this is a "dumb" suggestion... but what about Father Peter Vasko? If anyone has a connection with him through his duties in the Holy Land (his Franciscan Order maintains many of the shrines) or through EWTN, he could possibly steer our friend toward an answer.
ReplyDeleteCarol:
ReplyDeleteAny suggestion is helpful, thank you. I've already sent off a letter to the Franciscan Foundation to the Holy Land and I'll see if I can get in touch with Father Vasko.
If anyone else has any clues, send them our way. Thanks.
This might be a dumb question, but is this it?

Nick,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lead. Somehow, this doesn't seem like "it", as I think he's looking for something longer and more poetic. But, I'll pass it along, and we'll see.
I also think he saw it years ago, and it looks like the chapel actually was moved in recent times.
Exciting news! The picture you found Nick is the one!!!!! Thanks so much!
