The official blog of the American Chesterton Society where we talk about anything Chesterton talks about or writes about; including everything and everything else.
"You should not look a gift universe in the mouth." GKC
I certainly do feel happier just looking at it! And they got rid of the little goatee that marred the prototype!
ReplyDeleteTHAT is a must have!
ReplyDeleteI agree, gen. :-)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't the tree lean terribly to one side, though?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe that's just a good excuse to buy two...?
Nick, that's just an excuse for ACS to launch a Belloc one next year! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, a Belloc ornament would have to be a talking ornament -- make that shouting ornament -- bellowing "Gilbert! Gilbert! Bacon! Beer!" all night long.
ReplyDeleteI could get by with just the Gilbert if I had maybe two dozen Shaws to hang on the other side, I guess. There's probably an equation somewhere to work out the proper placement.
ReplyDeleteYou don't really need a dozen Shaws but you might have to make him fat. After all, Shaw was an egalitarian. :)
ReplyDeleteI just imagined a GKC ornament with bun caught in his mouth (hah!)
ReplyDeleteI just received it!
ReplyDeleteGKC looks great! I am proudly displaying him on my desk. Everyone is asking questions...I'm going to place an ACS membership form next to the ornament :)
Gen: Does it say made in China?
ReplyDeleteYes, I want to know that, too. Where was it made?
ReplyDeleteI guess it would be asking too much for it to say "Made in England"...
ReplyDeleteThe really hilarious thing, for those of us who have been to Middle Earth, is to imagine it having been produced around the Lonely Mountain...
ah... which means it would probably read "Made in Dale".
In runes, of course.
Hee hee.
It doesn't say anything that I can find.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year we can convince Dale to make it into a knob for a beer tap.
:)
On a serious note -
ReplyDeleteI have to say that this little thing is much better than an ornament. It isn't light or fragile at all and can double as a mini statue, a paper weight, or anything else you can think of.
I love it!
