Homeschool Conference
Over the weekend, I spoke at a homeschool conference, where my topic was "Chesterton and Children." I tell parents the many ways they can introduce their children to the great man, G.K. Chesterton, and his writing. I had quite a room full of not only parents, but teens as well, a couple of whom are from ChesterTeens, which was really fun. I'm going to see if I can get the CD to bring to the Chesterton Conference.

Was that conference in Milwaukee? If so I think it was the one my parents went to to sell books. Are they the ones who did the taping?
ReplyDeleteYour talk would be a great one to hvae. Time and again I tell homeschoolers I know that Chesterton is a natural for homeschoolers to teach their children. But no takers yet.
Dude,
ReplyDeleteYour parents were there. I bought heavily from them. They are wonderful.
But they didn't tape. St. Joseph's Communications taped. I am going to attempt to get the taped talk so I can have it at the ACS conference.
Gee, the parents *I* talk to all want to read Chesterton when I'm through with them ;-D
Hm, maybe if I removed my hands from people's throats and used gentle persuasion, I'd have more success. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I talked with my mom today and she said they didn't tape it. She did say they were really busy the whole time, however. Little did I know that it was you keeping them so busy. ;-) (they really do have a ton of good homeschooling stuff.)
I would love to hear more of your thoughts on Chesterton and Children and ideas for ways that I can introduce my girls to the works of the great man. I have only recently discovered him myself. Do you have notes, or can you comment on your speech and perhaps provide me with some details.

Kimberly, first, welcome to the wonderful world of GKC. Second, Nancy can give you far better advice on this than I can, except I can give you the best advice of all: subscribe to Gilbert Magazine, the greatest magazine in the world. It is designed specifically for Chesterton newcomers, but long-time readers of Chesterton love it too. Visit www.gilbertmagazine.com to read sample articles and subscribe. :-D
